The objective of this Synthesis Report is to identify the major theoretical and practical developments dealing with Airport Capacity and Efficiency optimisation and improvement. Furthermore, it is within the scope of this document to identify and present the major institutional / organizational and technical / operational factors associated with Airport Capacity and Efficiency, explore research gaps and opportunities for further airport research and developments, and specify the prevailing perceptions, attitudes and priorities of the air transport stakeholders. Finally, the results and conclusions derived from the exchange of opinions and perspectives during the three THENA Workshop and the dissemination activities were incorporated into this document with the purpose of providing a tentative guide to the research activities and current research voids and gaps in Europe and United States in the field of Airport Capacity and Efficiency.
